Week 1: Believer Skeptic (post 5)

I like how in the preface of this book it talks about how all humans "are predesigned to be easily decieved. It was as if our brain was programmed to believe in nonsense." It goes on furtehr to talk about how we humans can't live our lives without something to believe in. I believe that this statement is true, because we all latch onto things that we believe in and that makes life worth living, or what would life be without something to firmly say we believe in as individuals or groups. I like how you stated that we all must "admit to being wrong" This way of thinking is very real and holds much truth. It is also true that we all defend all we believe in and we don't learn anything from it because we are all so focused and blinded in what we strongly believe in, especially our religious beliefs.

I can see this holding truth to us individuals being naive about all else in theworld because we are all living in our own little make believe world. I like the quote in the book stated by a philosopher, "Doubting is the first step to wisdom." I liked this because it makes so much sense I wish that everyone in the world could have this quote at their hands and read it. If we just learned that we are all ignorant and know nothing than we can understand that we may never have any answers to all that we want to know and all that is mighty to us. This book even talks about water and why its scientific name is H2O and we need to understand how water is formed. Everything in our world is precise and there always needsto be an answer for every little thing. More and more information unfolds all day everyday. People always learn new things everyday and always have strong opinions about everything we hear about and read about.
