Week 1: What is Cold Reading? (post 4)

This reading was actually really interesting to me. I like these types of presumptions that some people can be all knowing and see people's futures all in one meeting. I however don't believe that this such cold reading is possible. My cousin actually went to a fortune teller recently and was told so much, she said what this fortune teller said about her was exact, but her future readings didn't make much sense, and in fact she was scared by what was told to her by this man. I believe that she said he also practices Santeria and witchcraft. He told her that she will be married a couple of times and that she will have bout four children in her lifetime.

He also stated that the man she is currently with now will not be the man she marries. I believe that when these types of readings are given to individuals who seek them the individuals will believe what they were told and may truly expect these outcomes to occur in the order they were given so they may seek them out in life and they may happen, not because the fortune teller predicted so, but because the client convinced themselves that it was all fate, that they searched for the results and maybe have received them. For example, if the fortune teller or reader "predicts" that a the client will run into an old ex and will reunite with them, then maybe the client will believe so much in what was said that they unconsciously seek for an old ex and try to make things work out again. I believe in going through life and seeing what comes of it.
