Week 2: Lisa Randall and Edward O. Wilson, Harvard University (post 4)

With Lisa Randalls interview I have to say that it is a very complex idea and theory that she talks about in her book titled, Warped Passages Unraveling The Mysteries Of The Universe's Hidden Dimensions. She is a well educated and complex woman and very intellectual. I was confused, but at the same time I was able to grasp the main idea and background from where she is coming from. I even saw that Charlie Rose was a bit discombobulated with her ideas, he even admitted in the beginning of her interview that he isn't familiar with physics, but he is interested in science.

She talks about gravity and how she believes that it is weak, because we are able to jump up and down, pick up a paper clip with a magnet and lift objects off the ground. In space, however, it is weaker because astronauts float and it takes them longer to get to where they want to go. Lisa also talks about dimensions and how there could possibly be ten of them. She talks about space and time being separate dimensions, we aren't able to see time but it is clearly here because people age and day and night come and go along with months and years.

Edward O. Wilson's interview with Charlie Rose was regarding creation. He talks about how pollution and over excessive fishing can soon kill off more and more species making them extinct. He was talking about how he wants to have the Evangelicals team up with him because he feels they have heart and are a big religious group, and at the same time putting religious beliefs aside to help reduce these things that are harming our environment.

During his interview I was thinking why is Wilson only putting his eggs in one basket with trying to get the Evangelicals help when this is a world wide issue and everyone should be helping? Maybe because he feels that he needs to start somewhere, and by getting the help from this religious group that soon it will be recognized more so and more people will join in this green effect while understanding how important our environment is and that it is in serious trouble if we don't act now?
