Week 5: Why Turn Vegetarian? (post 1)

This Peta Organization video was very sad to watch because it showed real images of defenceless animals being killed. It talks about reasons to become a vegetarian. For example, risk for heart disease is lowered when using a vegetarian diet, no living animal wants to see there family slaughtered, mad cow disease is in US, nobody should make a living by killing. One reason that I can disagree with to a degree is, "eating meat and dairy makes you fat." Based on this reason, they are saying that by consuming meat and dairy it equals to becoming fat, but I believe if one consumes too much meat and dairy it can make you fat, but not just consuming it, it all adds up it's based on portion size.

More reasons were, that these animals are defenceless, they scream when they too feel pain, they feel fear, and much more reasons were stated in this video. I'm not a vegetarian at the moment, but by witnessing these animals being harmed it's from now on going to make me think twice and make proper decisions. One of the last images was of a man picking up a brick and dropping it on a pigs head to kill it. This then ended with a statement, "Because you know this is wrong,"after reading that statement I realized how true it is, and how much anyone with common sense would know that it is wrong, but it doesn't stop all individuals which makes me sad.

The film ends with the statement, "Maybe its time to go vegetarian." Based on this statement, I feel that animals shouldn't have to suffer anymore and I don't want to see images like this anymore just for the sake of our taste buds, and it is true, "no animal should have to die for your taste buds." They have no say,no voice, but we do and we can stop this madness.
