Week 2: Professor Owen Gingerich, Harvard University (post 3)

Professor Owen Gingerich is a scientist and a religious man. He incorporates both into his belief system. He stated that there is a reason why we are here and that were here for a purpose, he said that it makes no sense that we are here on this earth without no sense of purpose or meaning in life. He also speaks about peoples faith, stating that everyone has a faith. For example, even an Atheist has a belief, which is that they choose to not believe; that is considered there faith that they follow in there life.

He even stated that when we look at different belief systems like Buddhism, many people may see that their belief in reincarnation after death here on earth will occur as a superstition. Yes, this may be true, however, it can go both ways, a Buddhist may look at Christianity as superstitious, but in Christianity the life of Jesus in his teachings shows us about salvation and forgiveness. I believe that reincarnation sounds a bit superstitious, but that's because I have strong Faith in my religious belief.
